The Soochna Seva team is making efforts to digitally empower the under-privileged children by providing computer training in their Soochna Seva Kendras. They have taught many children so far and have been continuing their work for about a year. Recently the team met Padam Singh, a young boy of 21-yr-old, in Meriyakhedi village of Chanchoura block. He expressed his desire to learn the basics of computer so that he can use his free time and learn something worthwhile that can help him in his future.
The team informed Padam Singh that they are providing basic education at a very minimal cost and this news lifted his spirits. On January 15, 2015 he joined the course and within a week he was able to pronounce computer terms such as cut, copy, paste, etc. His performance was wonderful and it drew the attention of Block Manager of Soochna Seva team. Soon he was assigned various tasks of spreading awareness about government schemes and plans within the village.
In the morning hours, he used to attend classes and in the evening he accompanied the Soochna Seva team on their field visits. He picked up the skills very well and in no time he began working independently. Around 80 people in Meriyakhedi village enrolled for Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna and it was possible through the efforts of Padam Singh.
His journey did not stop here because Soochna Seva team was quick to identify his potential. They identified his abilities and the enthusiasm to learn something new and eventually he was assigned as a fellow. Now, Padam is helping the team at the Soochna Seva Kendra in taking computer classes. He also inspires other children to enroll themselves in the course and learn about computers.
