Ramchandra Singh had the perception that he would never require a bank account. Also, he felt that no bank would open an account with a balance that is less than 1000 rupees. His misconceptions were clarified by one of the Soochna Seva team members, when the team was on a door-to-door visit in Dabri village.
The Soochna Sevak explained him about the importance of government schemes and the benefits that he can gain from them. Ramchandra was elated to know that he too could apply for various schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Bima Yojna, Vridha Pension Scheme etc. To avail the benefits of these schemes he had to open up a bank account. The Soochna Sevak resolved his problem and convinced him that he too can open an account under Pradhan Matri Jan Dhan Yojna with even zero balance.
Soochna Sevak collected all the documents from Ramsingh and deposited in the bank. Since, Ramsingh was a BPL card holder the account was opened easily and did not take much time. After a few days, the Soochna Sevak returned with a passbook and handed over to Ramsingh. He was happy to have an account and also requested the team to revisit so that he could apply for other schemes also. He also made a promise to keep his documents ready beforehand so that the application processes can proceed smoothly. He thanked the Soochna Seva team for helping him and also sharing vital information about govt. schemes with him.
