After Sohan Singh’s son Manjeet finished schooling, he would loiter around the village all day long. Sohan wanted his son to pursue hotel management but they weren’t financially strong enough to let him pursue the career. At a time when they barely had food to eat, higher education seemed like a distant dream. However, their dream was fulfilled when Soochna Seva organised a meet for the youth in Kangsali village in Pratap Nagar block of Tehri Garhwal district (Uttarakhand). At this meet, not only was Manjeet informed about hotel management as a course and colleges that offer this subject, but he was also informed about some government scholarship schemes that could help lessen the financial burden on his father for his education. Today, Manjeet is a student of hotel management.
