32 years old, Reena Devi lives in village Selur Patti Juva in Thauldhar block of Uttarakhand. Reena Devi lives with her husband Darshan Lal and two sons Sumeet (10) and Lucky (5). Reena Devi is differently abled with a disability in her legs. Her husband is the only bread earner in the house. However, it’s not enough to even sufficiently feed the entire family. “If my legs had not been in this condition, I would have contributed something to the family income. I wouldn’t have been sitting at home like this,” says Reena Devi.
One day, she met some Soochna Mitras who were conducting a survey in the area. When they questioned Reena Devi about government aid and schemes for the differently abled, she was disappointed that she was unaware of any of them. The Soochna Mitras informed her about several schemes, including the Divyaan Pension Yojna,
The Soochna Mitras did not stop at that but helped her fill the form and submit all necessary documents along with it, which were then verified by the Gram Pradhan, the tehsildar and the welfare department. Reena Devi is grateful to Soochna Mitras for creating awareness regarding various schemes and helping her to avail the same.
