As the tradition has it, a young Soochna Seva worker was working on his assignment to visit several villages to carry out community engagement programs and spread government schemes and entitlements awareness especially in the marginalized section of society. While an awareness campaign in dorp rajasv dharmsar, a small village near gram panchayat of kalyanpur, Barmer, Rajasthan, the Soochna seva worker met a widow, Anand Kanwar. Kanwar husband died 9 months back and all the domestic life responsibilities fell on her shoulders. She was supposed to feed her 3 young kids and aging mother-in-law without any source of income. Life was getting rough by the day and she had no clue how to turn it around. A point came when arranging for 2 times meal seemed to be a luxury. The only silver lining during such testing times was the financial support from Aaganwadi widow pension scheme of her mother-in-law.
Kanwar, even being fully aware of the widow scheme benefits and how it can improve her life standards was unable to reach for it. She belonged to a low caste and was prohibited to go out without being accompanied by a close male member of the family. As no male member was left in her family she had no scope to pursue the scheme document, application and registration related paper work. When everything seems down, life opened the door to her happiness by introducing her to the Soochna Seva team. The team understanding the gravity of her situation swiftly got into action and helped her in obtaining a widow certificate. Later, with the help of all the proof documents she applied for the widow pension schemes. Today, Kanwar is receiving her entitlement benefits regularly and living in peace with her family.
