A new service in the basket, Umri Panchyat, Madhya Pradesh
Barkhedi Maharaj is a small village which lies on the State Highway 38. Believing that division of work area takes the work to every door and brings efficiency Bhure Singh Narwariya was assigned to work on this village. While on the field Bhure Singh was thirsty so thought to use the hand pump. When he was trying to fetch water from the hand pump there was no water in it. On enquiry he learned that this hand pump is out of order for last two month.
Bhoore Singh thought out loud ‘I was thirsty and I did not get the water what would be the situation of the village?’ So he contacted the Sarpanch and Sachiv and wrote out an application and submitted the same to PHE.
On the follow up visit mechanics at PHE were not interested in the work and were sitting lame excuse such as ‘Abhi pipe ki kaami hai hum log baad me ayenge’ . Bhoore Singh who lives in village and knows the parts of the hand pump sighted the pipe lying inside the premises of the PHE office. He carried one and took it to the officials and asked them to visit the village and repair the hand pump. At last the PHE officials had to surrender and went along with Bhure Singh to the village and repaired the Handpump.
