Upendra, a Balmiki (scavenger) community boy, could not continue his studies after 5th standard due to his family’s economic distress. Later, when domestic life finally began showing some signs of improvement he thought of completing his schooling. His education aspirations were almost shattered when he could not obtain ‘gap certificate’ and ‘5th class passing certificate’ mandatory for school admission, despite trying hard for it for 2 years. Upendra was a dropout and without these certificates he was not meeting the requirements for admission to the local school. After trying for so long and still not succeeding, he approached aron center of information service to fix his problem. The center staff assured him that they’ll do everything possible to help him. Ravindra Raghuvanshi and Sachindra Bhargava, who are Soochna Sevak workers, met development section education officer R.S. Meet Dangi and apprised him of the Upendra’s situation. With the prompt interventions of Mr. Dangi, all obstacles got removed and Upendra finally got his 5th pass certificate and Gap certificate. He is now studying in the local school and will appear for the 8th class examination this year.
